A couple is wanted for questioning by police after they left a North Las Vegas, Nevada, home, where their 3-year-old daughter was found dead.
Kellie Cherie Phillips, 38, and ex-convict Jondrew Megil Lachaux, 39, are believed to be on the run with their other five children.
The discovery of the couple’s dead daughter occurred after North Las Vegas police checked on the couple’s 17-year-old daughter and found her 4-month-old daughter severely neglected. The baby required hospitalization for her critical condition after showing signs of being malnourished, reports ABC 7.
The 17-year-old mother was arrested on child abuse charges.
Phillips and Lachaux, with their children, are believed to be in Oakland, California.
An AMBER Alert has not been issued nor has an arrest warrant, and the couple is solely wanted for questioning at this time, reports The Daily Mail.
North Las Vegas Police Officer Aaron Patty said there is concern for the welfare of the couple’s five children — a 9-year-old girl and four boys aged between 1 to 8 years old.
“We have a 4-month-old fighting for life at the hospital,” Patty said. “It is imperative for us to locate these children so that we can verify the condition of them.”
Police think Phillips and Lachaux abandoned the North Las Vegas home several weeks or months ago, leaving the 17-year-old to care for the two children.
The 3-year-old girl had been dead for several days when police found her in the home. The teen and her child had remained in the home with the baby’s corpse.
