The Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) announced that it has canceled plans to produce a reality TV show centered around Jay Williams, who became known for fathering 34 children with 17 different women.

The show was supposed to follow Williams, an Atlantia-based music producer, as he set out to connect with his many children, whose ages are between 3 and 27 years old. OWN released a statement Friday announcing that plans for the series had been scrapped.

“OWN has decided not to move forward with the Jay Williams docu-series,” the statement read. “The series aimed to follow Jay as he worked to put his life and fractured relationships in order and to hold him accountable every step of the way. The intention was to help Jay work to establish new connections with his family, his children and the mothers of his children. Production has ended and the series will not air.” The show was slated to air in September.

Williams garnered attention after appearing on OWN’s popular series "Iyanla: Fix My Life," hosted by life coach Iyanla Vanzant.

“So let me ask you this question, Jay,” Vanzant said in the episode. “34 children. At any point, did it dawn on you this is too much?”

“No,” Williams replied. He subsequently revealed that contrary to belief, he used condoms during sex with the women he impregnated. “I probably would have had 200 kids if I didn’t use condoms.”

Williams’ series was said to be intended as a spinoff of his segment on Vanzant’s show.
