A pregnant woman was shot in Dayton, Ohio on Sunday night by the father of her unborn child. The 18-year-old victim told police the man shot her because she refused to have an abortion.
The victim said she was driving when the man, 23-year-old Tanner Hopkins, pulled up next to her at a stop light. Hopkins then rolled down his window and fired two shots into the woman’s car. She was not hit by either shot.
The woman told police that Hopkins is mad because he wants her to have an abortion and she refuses to do so.
After the shooting, the victim called police and told them what had happened. Dayton police tracked Hopkins back to his mother’s house, where they found him in bed with another young woman. Police found a Ravens Arm P25 in the man’s shorts with bullets that matched those found in the back of the victim’s car.
Hopkins was booked into Montgomery County Jail on suspicions of felonious assault and weapons charges. This is not Hopkins first run-in with the law. He was convicted of felonious assault in 2009.
