NYPD Releases Disturbing Daytime Brooklyn Rape Video

The NYPD has released disturbing video footage from Saturday morning of a man dragging a woman into an alleyway in broad daylight and then raping her.

After the assault, which happened on East 27th Street near Brooklyn College, the man in the video takes the 22-year-old woman’s cellphone and throws it over a wall so that she won’t have the chance to call for help, according to The New York Post.

Besides the physical and emotional damage that the woman sustained during the attack, she also lost her money to the attacker. The woman is recovering from the stressful incident but does have some facial bruising and is also understandably suffering emotional trauma.

It is believed that the man told her that he had a gun in order to get her into the alley, but it remains to be seen whether he actually had a firearm or was simply tossing out empty threats.

Police have recovered a condom from the scene of the crime and are testing it for DNA evidence that could help them identify the suspect. The attacker has been described as a black male in his mid-20s, 5-foot-6 with a medium build and a bald head.

In the video, the man can be seen wearing a blue Yankees baseball hat with a white brim, a dark gray jacket, jeans and a white T-shirt.

Local residents of the area were surprised by news of the attack. “I’ve never heard of something like that happening around here,” said Nadia Wesley, who lives in the neighborhood. However it does sound as if she now thinks that people should be a little more caution. “I wouldn’t advise young women to walk in the street at night, especially around here,” Wesley said. “It’s really dark there.”

Another young woman, Geena Ellewney, 21, warned, “Walk with people that you know, especially if it’s late at night . . . Keep looking back to make sure no one is following you. Don’t take your chances.’’
