Former television writer Ted Shuttleworth was arrested on Saturday for allegedly punching his poodle in the face so hard that it died of a brain injury.
The New York Post reported that the former 'NYPD Blue' writer could face up to a year in prison for punching his dog on May 29.
Shuttleworth allegedly attacked his pet because he was angry with it. The dog weighed about four pounds and suffered a traumatic brain injury after the attack, according to a spokesman for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Shuttleworth was arrested Saturday at his home in Queens, New York. His wife said that the animal's death was a "horrible accident."
