Two women in ninja garb, armed with knives and stun guns, were arrested during a Utah home invasion. Authorities say they were after a 15-year-old sexual assault victim who planned to testify against their husband at a rape trial.
The polygamists, ages 18 and 22, were arrested by West Jordan police after they entered a home late Thursday and were caught by the victim’s male relative.
“I went to the bottom of the stairs and saw a couple of ninjas coming down,” the man told Fox 13. “They were all dark gray or black, and they had black rubber gloves on and masks. All I could see was their eyes.”
“My adrenaline was pumping so bad,” he added. “They grabbed for me, and one of them covered my mouth, and the other grabbed my throat, but they were both pretty small so I threw them back and started shouting to get anybody awake that I could.”
He held the women, who were reportedly sisters, until police arrived using a Samurai sword, the family said in a statement.
“It was so surreal,” he told Fox 13. “I wasn’t processing what was fully happening. I was just working on instinct. All of us are still floored by it.”
The suspects were booked into Salt Lake County Jail on aggravated assault, aggravated robbery and witness tampering.
It is unclear whether the teen was actually victimized by their husband. Police simply said it was the teen’s testimony that the sister wives wanted to silence.
“We do believe it does involve the testimony that would be given in court next week,” said West Jordan Police Officer Craig Powell.
