Actress Nicole Kidman caused quite a stir at the Emmys on Sept. 17 when she locked lips with co-star Alexander Skarsgard in front of her husband, country singer Keith Urban (video below).
Skarsgard was awarded the Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series for his role in the HBO series "Big Little Lies." While the Swedish actor played Kidman's abusive husband on the show, the two actors showed nothing but love for each other in Los Angeles' Microsoft Theater, according to Fox News.
As Skarsgard was making his way down the aisle to accept his award, Kidman pulled him into a brief embrace, kissing him on the lips. Behind her stood her real-life husband, Urban.
Urban showed no reaction to the kiss and stood behind his wife continuing to applaud Skarsgard for his win.
Twitter users were shocked by the kiss and were quick to share their reactions.
"Hollywood is so weird," one confused person wrote. "How can Nicole Kidman just casually kiss a man in front of her husband?"
Others used the situation to make a joke, with one person writing: "In Nicole Kidman's defense, who doesn't want to kiss Alexander Skarsgard?"
But kissing a co-star is nothing new for Kidman, according to Today. In 2003, she locked lips with Oscar presenter and actor Denzel Washington when she took to the stage to accept her Best Actress award for her part in "The Hours."
Only a year later, she kissed legendary actress and singer Lauren Bacall on the red carpet of the Deauville American Film Festival.
And, in 2015, she turned heads when she kissed friend and fellow actress Naomi Watts on stage during the Women in Film Crystal + Lucy Awards.
Kidman is not shy about public displays of affection, whether it be with her friends, co-stars or her husband. Although her kiss with Skarsgard made headlines, she was seen passionately kissing Urban throughout the night. Pictures show the couple embracing on the red carpet and in their seats during the show, according to Fox.
She also thanked Urban during her acceptance speech for her award as Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or Movie.
"I’m a mother and a wife," she told the crowd during her speech. "I have two little girls, Sunday and Faith and my darling Keith, who I asked to help me pursue this artistic path and they have to sacrifice so much for it. So ... this is yours."
