Former NFL running back Clinton Portis filed for bankruptcy after falling into almost $5 million worth of debt.
According to documents obtained by Deadspin, 34-year-old Portis — a former player for the Washington Redskins and Denver Broncos — owes over $1 million in mortgage payments, $500,000 to his mother, and $500,000 to "Entertainment Tonight" reporter Nischelle Turner.
In addition to the higher figures, Portis also owes $390,000 in back taxes, $170,000 to the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in New Jersey, $412,000 in domestic support to four different women, $65,553 on a repossessed BMW, and $899 in unpaid phone bills, Deadspin reported.
Portis’s time in the NFL included a $50.5 million contract in 2004 over the course of eight years — making him the highest paid running back in the league’s history, reported Daily Mail.
He reportedly took home $43.1 million in his career, which ended after a 2010 injury.
He lists just $150 in his bank account, according to USA Today.
