Bruce Jenner has captivated headlines in recent weeks for his reported transition from male to female, but following a recent fatal crash he was involved in, the reality star could face manslaughter charges.
According to TMZ, new video evidence captured by a bus traveling behind one of the involved vehicles apparently proves that the reality star was the cause of the accident that took one person’s life.
Reconstructed footage shows that the 65-year-old former Olympian crashed his Escalade into the back of the victim’s white Lexus as well as the Toyota Prius also involved in the crash. It was previously believed that the Lexus had stopped short after hitting the oncoming Prius, causing Jenner to push it into the oncoming Hummer, ultimately taking 69-year-old Kim Howe’s life, but video footage now shows that Jenner hit the Lexus, pushing it into the oncoming Hummer, and then hit the Prius himself. The video reportedly proves that the Lexus and the Prius never made contact.
Although this is just a recreation of what transpired, TMZ reports that it "accurately reflects what is on the MTA video."
Reports say that the video footage could prove that Jenner was driving too close to the Lexus and is therefore responsible for the crash. If he or any of the drivers is convicted of potential charges, they could face up to six years in prison.
Recently, Jenner broke his silence on the crash, expressing his sadness for what happened on the California highway.
“My heartfelt and deepest sympathies go out to the family and loved ones, and to all of those who were involved or injured in this terrible accident,” Jenner said in a statement. “It is a devastating tragedy, and I cannot pretend to imagine what this family is going through at this time. I am praying for them. I will continue to cooperate in every way possible.”
An investigation is currently ongoing.
