A police officer in New Mexico and a former security officer were both arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a woman on Christmas Eve.
James Watters, 25, who is a Milan police officer, 28-year-old former security guard Jessie Terrazas and Grants police sergeant Jessie Nieto allegedly picked up a 20-year-old woman in a car after one or more of them sent her sexually explicit text messages, reports the New York Daily News.
The victim reportedly refused to engage in sex acts the men had requested via texts and then reportedly mentioned rape, which was when Nieto asked that he be taken home, reports KOAT. After Nieto was dropped off, Watters and Terrazas allegedly drove the young woman to New Mexico State University Grants Campus, where they gave her alcohol.
While drinking, Terrazas reportedly forced the woman to touch him in a sexual manner, while Watters allegedly pulled her hair and forced her to perform oral sex on him.
Both men reportedly maintain that the sex acts were consensual.
Watters, who is a father of three and worked as a firefighter for four years, has been charged with second-degree criminal penetration and is on paid leave from the police department. Terrazas has been charged with fourth-degree criminal sexual contact. Both men face charges of providing alcohol to minors.
Terrazas’ bond is set at $50,000 and Watters’ is $100,000.
