A man in Trenton, N.J., woke up from a 10-hour sleep with a scathing pain in his back only to be told by his brother that a 5-inch knife was sticking out of it.
“And his brother said he had a knife blade protruding from his back,” Lt. Mark Kieffer, a police spokesman, told The Times of Trenton.
Police say the unidentified 42-year-old man was stabbed at about 2 a.m. on Sunday after the victim had been drinking.
The Times reports that the man walked out onto his porch to smoke a cigarette, and then a man who needed a light approached him. The victim refused, and the two of them began arguing and got into a fistfight.
The man claims he began to win the fight and his attacker ran away.
“He said, ‘I’m not chasing after the guy,’” Kieffer remarked.
However, there was not much information available about the attack as police say the stabbing victim has been “very uncooperative.”
“Police did not disclose the size or type of knife, but told The Times of Trenton that a five-inch blade was removed from the victim’s back at Capital Health Regional Medical Center,” the Daily Mail reports.
The man is expected to survive from injuries and was scheduled to be released from the hospital on Monday.
