North Carolina police are searching for three men who robbed a newly opened Durham restaurant at gunpoint Sunday night.
The Pit Authentic Barbecue has a sign posted by the front door that reads “No Weapons. No Concealed Firearms,” according to North Carolina Gun Blog.
Suspects entered the restaurant’s back door shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday. Workers were terrorized and forced to lie down on the floor. Two employees were assaulted in the traumatic incident, according to ABC 11.
"They're doing great," restaurant owner Greg Hatem said of the workers. "One of them actually went to the hospital and was released. They took a good look at him, he's fine."
There were patrons in the dining area when the robbery took place. Workers asked them to leave and they got out safely.
Pictured on the restaurant’s "No Weapons" sign are the NC State Capitol, the NC Legislature and The Pit.
“Does The Pit Authentic Barbecue offer the same level of armed security that the NC Legislature and the NC State Capitol offer?” asks the pro-gun the blog. “Are there armed police officers hired to stand guard patrolling The Pit Authentic Barbecue the same way there are armed police officers hired to stand guard on the NC Legislative Building and the NC State Capitol?”
"We're offering $2,000 for the arrest and conviction of these guys," Hatem told ABC. "We take this very seriously. We want to make sure our guests and our staff are taken care of."
