MSNBC Hosts' Relationship Comes Under Magnifying Glass

"Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski has reportedly split up with Jim Hoffer, her husband of 22 years. This news comes four years after anchor Joe Scarborough, 53, filed for divorce from his own wife Susan in 2012, fueling speculation that the two could be romantically involved.

"Mika's divorce was finalized in the past year," an NBC spokesperson confirmed to Page Six, according to People Magazine. "She's really grateful that it was done amicably and in private."

Brzezinski, 49, became popular amongst MSNBC viewers in 2007 when she refused to read a story about Paris Hilton and subsequently became a well-known guest on Scarborough's show. Brzezinski is a Democrat while Scarborough is a former Republican congressman.

According to an insider at NBC, Brzezinski and Scarborough's alleged romance is an open secret.

"Everybody at 30 Rock knows they are a couple," the source told Page Six, according to Hollywood Life. "They are constantly together, they arrive and leave events together, even on weekends. They are each other’s publicists and finish each other’s sentences."

The source added that the two co-anchors' relationship was "the worst kept secret on TV."

A friend of Brzezinski told Page Six that if the co-host does indeed have a romantic relationship with Scarborough, it will likely remain confidential for the time being, Hollywood Life notes.

"Mika has always been very open – in her books and elsewhere – about her failures and disappointments in her life," the friend said. "I’m sure down the road she’ll want to share more about this experience, but right now she thinks it’s best for her family to have some privacy.”

Scarborough has four children from his previous two marriages and has not been romantically linked to anyone since his divorce became public knowledge in 2013. Brzezinski has two teenage children with Hoffer, Carlie and Emilie.
