A San Francisco motorcyclist is lucky to be alive after he was hit by a car and miraculously landed on his feet.
Taylor Smith’s great luck was caught on his helmet camera.
The video begins with Smith stopped at a red light. The moment it turns green he drives through the intersection, but is struck by a “cager” (a person driving a car) who ran a red light.
“He was slamming on his brakes, so it launched me forward; somehow I landed on my feet,” Smith said. “Actually pretty happy because that probably reduced any further damage that could have happened to my body.”
Although Smith doesn’t think he was badly injured, he is still being checked out. According to Smith, his heavily customized 2011 Daytona 675 is completely totaled.
“Just stiffness, bruising, and the occasional sharp pain,” Smith wrote on Reddit. “Doesn’t feel like anything is broken or torn but I’ll leave that up to the experts to decide.”
Smith reminded pedestrians to be aware before crossing the street, even if they have a walk signal. He wrote that a number of people probably would have been hit had he not collided with the car first.
To date, the video has been viewed 2.4 million times.
