A California woman tragically drowned in front of her 8-year-old daughter on the day her boyfriend planned to propose to her. Instead of hearing the four words, "Will you marry me?" she uttered four final words to her daughter. "I love you, goodbye."

The death occurred on Aug. 5 at around 6:30 p.m. at California's Big River Park. Tasha Turner, 30, was celebrating her birthday with loved ones when their boat lost power and began sinking, the Daily Mail reported.

Everyone onboard was able to get off the sinking 19-foot closed-bow boat except Tasha, who became tangled in a rope connected to the vessel. She was unable to free herself, and handed her 8-year-old daughter, Genesis, to a jet skier who stopped to help.

The family revealed more details about the incident on a GoFundMe page:

Tasha Turner: a daughter, mother, sister, best friend, and now Hero. Tasha lived everyday for her family and friends inspiring and touching everyone she crossed paths with. Whether you grew up with her or you only met her once, she inspired and lifted you to always be better. Lighting up every room she walked into, her contagious laugh brought joy to everyone's hearts.

Being surprised for her birthday, her boyfriend Nawras, planned a last minute trip for her friends and family.  Getting on the boat, he only had one thing in mind, a proposal. Tragically, the boat lost power and began to sink. With complete selflessness, she saved her boyfriend who couldn't swim and her daughter Genesis before sinking with the boat. She is survived by her daughter who is eight years old.

Tasha's sister, Myesha Turner, revealed the mother's final words, which were to her daughter.

"Before her mom threw her, she gave her a hug and said 'I love you. Goodbye,'" Myesha told KNBC.

Nawras Salah, Tasha's boyfriend, also revealed that he had the diamond ring in his pocket when she drowned. They had been together four years.

"I love you very much. I love you," Salah said of his girlfriend.

The boat's operator, Umberto Bagnara, has been named as a suspect. Law enforcement officials are still investigating what may have caused the boat to sink, and are looking into whether there may have been too many people on board.

The GoFundMe page has raised more than $1,600 of its $5,000 goal in just two days. The money will go to help pay for Tasha's funeral, and any leftover money will be given to Genesis.
