A Michigan mother has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for sexually fondling a 4-year-old boy in a video circulated online.
Kailee Perez, 25, pleaded guilty in September 2017 to sexually abusing a young child on tape. She sent the video to her drug dealer, 32-year-old Nathan Osborne, at his request in November 2016.
The abused child's identity was kept private in court papers, but the father did confirm on Facebook that he and Perez were relatives, Daily Mail reported.
In October 2017, Osborne was sentenced to 37 years in prison for coercing Perez to shoot the obscene video and then distributing it. His prison term also includes charges for a separate case in which he influenced a 20-year-old woman to sexually assault her infant son.
Perez was sentenced to 20 years in prison and five years of probation on Jan. 11. Her distribution charges were eliminated as part of her plea deal. According to MLive, the terms of her probation will include counseling for sex crimes, substance abuse and mental stability. She will also be required to pay $5,000 in accordance with Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act.
Perez will not be able to have contact with children unless such contact is approved by her probation officer. An assessment by a social worker stated that she did not seem to have a sexual interest in children and would be unlikely to commit another offense as long as she stays clean.
Perez has a past of abusing heroin, marijuana, crack cocaine and prescription medications. A social worker said she had formed an "unhealthy dependency" on Osborne for drugs and sex.
She has reportedly been in and out of rehab programs at various points throughout her life.
A May 2015 report by MLive named a 22-year-old Kailee Perez in Muskegon County, Michigan -- the same area where the now 25-year-old Perez lives -- as the parent of a 2-and-a-half-year-old son. It stated that Perez was raising her son at her mother's house while her boyfriend, Daniel Nelson, battled heroin addiction.
The report stated that Perez, a previous heroin addict, was pregnant with her and Nelson's second child. It's unclear whether their first child, who would have been about 4 when Perez made the video, is the same child she assaulted.
Daily Mail reported that Perez and Nelson have split and that he is believed to have custody of the child. She may have not carried the second child to term, since there are only pictures of her older child on Facebook.
