Mother And Son Arrested For Running Separate Drug Rings In Upstate New York

A mother and son were arrested Jan. 14 for reportedly selling prescription painkillers and heroin in their own separate drug rings in upstate New York.

According to Poughkeepsie Journal, Christine Altro, 53, and her son Christopher Altro, 27, were both arrested on the same day for the same charges, although they never worked together in distributing drugs.

Christine was allegedly selling oxycodone and morphine out of her Plattekill home near Poughkeepsie, New York, while Christopher was reportedly selling heroin in the New Paltz area in New York.

Both mother and son made the mistake of selling drugs to undercover police officers in a series of sting operations, according to authorities.

They were both arrested in their respective homes by the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team and both charged with the same four felony counts: two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell.

The mother and son were sent to Ulster County Jail after being arraigned in New Paltz Town Court, according to Daily Freeman. Christine’s bail is set at $5,000 while Christopher’s is set at $10,000.
