Tenisha Fearon, 27, allegedly screamed 'Hallelujah' and 'Praise the Lord' before throwing her infant daughter, Junilah Lawrence, out of a sixth floor window in Bronx, New York, on Oct. 15, police said.
Though the infant survived the fall, she died an hour later at St. Barnabas Hospital, the NY Post reported. Fearon, who was naked at the time of incident, was taken to Bronx Lebanon Hospital for a medical evaluation and was charged with murder on Oct. 16.
Fearon allegedly said "the devil is in her," while police took her away, according to NY Daily News.
Fearon’s three other children, a 10-year-old boy and two girls, ages 9 and 4, were found in the apartment unharmed.
“I heard [Fearon] screaming and she was saying, ‘Praise God!’ and ‘Hallelujah!’" neighbor Lizette Rodriguez, 48, told the NY Post. "Then she was screaming, ‘I’m going to throw her! I’m going to throw her — we’re all going to die.’”
“As I was on the phone with 911, I heard a thump,” Rodriguez said. “People then screamed, ‘Oh my God! What did you do! She threw the baby!’”
Louella Hatch, 76, Fearon's godmother, was stunned by the story.
“She needs help ... I want her to get help,” she told NY Daily News. “Something’s got to be wrong. She wouldn’t do that.”
