Mom Rushes Son To Hospital Following Scorpion Sting, Cop Threatens To Arrest Her For Speeding (Video)

After her two-year-old son was stung by a scorpion, a mother sped to bring her son to the hospital. When her friend, who was driving, got pulled over for speeding, the officer did not want to hear her excuse and threatened to arrest them.

Jennifer Garbet says she discovered that her son had been stung by a scorpion and had a family friend drive them to the emergency room. They got in the car and were speeding towards the hospital when they saw a police officer on the side of the road. Out of fear that they would be pulled over for speeding, they decided to quickly pull up alongside of the officer and explain the situation.

“He nodded at us as though he understood that something was going on. He gave us a nod,” Garbet said. “So we were speeding and about two miles down the road, the officer pulled us over.”

Garbet says she once again explained to the officer that her son had been stung by a scorpion, was vomiting and having convulsions, and needed medical attention, so the officer warned them about their speed and let them go. As they began pulling back onto the freeway, the officer immediately pulled them over once again. Garbet says she tried to bargain with the officer and offered to drive the car instead of her friend, but the officer said he had already called an ambulance and wouldn’t let them go.

“He said, “You’re not going anywhere, and if you leave, you will be arrested,’” Garbet said. “In that moment, that’s no position that a mother should be put in to have to chose.”

At that moment, an ambulance just passed by and exited the freeway, so the mother and her friend flagged it down and were able to get the boy to the hospital for treatment. The boy is luckily in good health, and now, Garbet says she has filed for an investigation with the DPS.
