Christy Sheats Reloaded Gun During Massacre

Christy Sheats, the Texas mother accused of shooting her own daughters Madison, 17, and Taylor, 22, is reported to have reloaded her gun before shooting again.

Christy had called a family meeting, according to People, in the living room of the family's home in Katy, Texas, before the fatal shooting occurred. After Christy opened fire in the house, the daughters, along with their father, Jason, fled into the street, where Madison collapsed and died.

Christy then reportedly followed Taylor into the street and shot her, a witness confirmed, before she went back into the house to reload her gun.  She then returned outside to shoot Taylor again. In all, police say Taylor was shot three times.

The 22-year-old, who was planning to marry her fiance on June 27, was left in critical condition before she was airlifted to a hospital, where she later died.

Authorities have said that Christy had a "history of mental illness," and that the police were called to the Sheats' home 14 times since 2012 due to altercations, according to the Daily Mail. "My parents witnessed her being put into an ambulance" several years ago, a neighbor told People. "She never came out of the house," added the neighbor.

A witness who called 911 during the incident said that Christy looked calm and expressionless during the shooting. "She was just walking normally with a gun. There was no expression, no hurry or rush, just walking with the gun. No expression on her face, she was just looking straight," the witness said.

When police arrived and asked Christy to put down her handgun, she did not comply, and an officer shot and killed her.

Maj. Chad Norvell of the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office said that a domestic dispute was what triggered the tragic incident.

"The husband and wife weren't getting along," Norvell told CBS, adding that the couple had been arguing about marital issues.

Christy, who posted on Facebook regularly, was an avid opponent of gun control laws. In March, she posted a video about gun control, adding that it would be "horribly tragic" if Democrats banned semi-automatic handguns.
