Mom Left At A Loss For Words After Seeing What Her Sons Are Up To (Video)

One Florida mother was suspicious when she saw her children outside, huddled together, before their first day of school.

Wondering what they were up to, she investigated further (video below).

She was shocked when she realized what they were doing: Her sons were praying.

"Since they took prayer out of the schools, they pray before going to school," the mom said, WJAX reports.

The mother then recorded the scene. The short recording features the oldest brother leading the prayer as the younger children follow alone, repeating what he says.

While the children's ages are unknown, the eldest is a high school freshman while the youngest goes to elementary school.

Later, the mother sent the video to the local news station.

"So sweet!" writes Brittney Donovan, digital producer at WJAX, on Twitter. "A Viewer sent us video of a group of brothers praying before first day of school in Duval #BackToSchoolJax"

Some were touched, praising the mother and her children for offering a prayer before school.

While the Supreme Court outlawed school-sponsored prayer in public schools in 1960s, prayer in public schools remains a divisive and controversial issue in the U.S., The Huffington Post reports.

A 2014 Gallup poll reveals 61 percent of Americans believe daily prayer should be allowed in public school classrooms. That number has declined, The Huffington Post reports, in comparison to the 66 percent who believed this in 2001.

In addition, 75 percent of Americans revealed they favor “allowing students to say prayers at graduation ceremonies as part of the official program.”

Those who identify as Republicans were more likely to agree with this sentiment.

“I think that luckily constitutional law is not voted on by the majority,” Annie Laurie Gaylor, co-president of the Freedom from Religion Foundation, said about the figures.
