An 18-year-old San Antonio, Texas, babysitter was arrested for sexually assaulting a 4-year-old boy.
Esmeralda Medellin reportedly assaulted the boy on March 28 while she was babysitting him, an arrest affidavit obtained by the San Antonio Express-News stated.
The boy told his mother that Medellin made him perform a sex act on her, and the mother quickly called police while the young woman was still in her home. Both the babysitter and the child were taken to the hospital for examination, and Medellin subsequently gave a voluntary statement denying that the act took place.
Medellin was released after giving her statement, but DNA results were returned on Aug. 16 and revealed the boy's DNA on her breast. Male DNA was found on her genitals but not enough to identify the boy.
The woman was arrested on suspicion of aggravated sexual assault after the test results were revealed. She was held on $75,000 bond.
"The mom found this out while the baby sitter was still there, and she lived. Please that b**ch would have been in a body bag," one Mad World News reader commented on the site's Facebook page.
"This woman need to be put in prison for the rest of her life and to let all the other prisoners know exactly what she did to this little four year old boy," another wrote.
"Put her in prison and the [other] prisoners will take care of her as they do not tolerate child molesters," another added.
Some readers expressed sadness over the inevitable struggles the boy will face after being sexually abused.
"She needs to be locked up for a very long time. Hope the little boy will be able to move past this and not have hang ups later on down the road," one reader commented.
"What in the world was this girl was thinking," another questioned.
In a similar incident, a San Jose, California, woman and her boyfriend were arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl they were babysitting.
Blanca Torres and Hector Garcia were charged with seven counts each of lewd acts on a child after sexually assaulting the girl. Both were arrested after the mother brought her daughter to the police station after suspecting that she was abused.
Police later found child pornography searches on Torres' phone browser, leading to the couple's arrest. The girl's mother said the Torres offered babysitting services to other families, prompting an investigation into more potential victims, the San Francisco Gate reported.
