Missouri Man Arrested For Imprisoning 15-Year-Old Ohio Girl In His Home

A Missouri man has been arrested for reportedly transporting a 15-year-old girl across state lines and holding her in his home against her will.

Christopher David Schroeder, 41, of Marthasville, Missouri, was arrested on Dec. 1 after authorities discovered the girl in his Warren County home. The man had kept her imprisoned in the home for about a month, during which time he repeatedly raped her and forced her to clean the house, NY Daily News reports.

Schroeder allegedly met the girl in an online chat forum sometime in late October or early November, according to court documents. She reportedly told him she was "unhappy at home," so he offered to "pick her up and help her."

He then drove to her home in Brooklyn, Ohio, on Nov. 8 and picked up the girl, who had told her family that she was going outside to walk the dog.

Schroeder then instructed the teen to take the SIM card and battery out of her cellphone so that they couldn't be traced. He did not tell her where he was taking her.

When the two arrived at Schroeder's home in the gated Lake Sherwood Estates community near Marthasville, the man sexually assaulted his young victim and told her that he expected her to have sex with him and clean his home for as long as she stayed.

He forced her to change her appearance by cutting and coloring her hair and losing weight, and forbade her from using the Internet or telephone without his permission.

He also smashed her cellphone and threw it into a river, according to court documents.

The girl reportedly told Schroeder that she wanted to go home, but he wouldn't allow it. According to the court affidavit, she was afraid to leave because he had several guns in his home.

A combined task force of law enforcement officials from the FBI, Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children, and the Warren County Sheriff's Department worked together to track down the girl, according to Fox 13.

They reportedly discovered her location on Dec. 1 with the help of a fake Facebook page.

After authorities executed a search warrant on Schroeder's home around 4:30 p.m. the same day, they found the girl being held captive there. Police also discovered DVR videos of the man having sex with the girl, which were recorded on two cameras in his bedroom.

The search also uncovered evidence that the man had been to Ohio, including a receipt for food purchased at a McDonald's restaurant in Ohio and a traffic ticket found in the man's computer case, according to WKYC. Both documents were dated Nov. 8, the day the girl went missing.

Schroeder was charged with statutory rape, producing child pornography and transporting a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity. He is currently being held in Warren County detention on a $10,000 bond.

If convicted of all charges, he could face anywhere from 15 years to life in prison.

He reportedly told police that he believed the girl was 18 years old, although she told him her real age in both the online chat and on the drive to his home.

The girl's stepfather said the family spoke to her on Dec. 2, a day after she was rescued, and that she was doing well and couldn't wait to go home, according to WKYC.

The teen's disappearance in November sparked a massive search that drew the attention of actor Nicolas Cage as well as three Cleveland, Ohio women who were kidnapped and tortured by convicted rapist Ariel Castro in the early 2000s.
