Police say a Minnesota man murdered a mother of three in the early hours of Aug. 6.
Krista Ambers, 36, was found dead by police officers in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, after they received reports of an unconscious woman. When they arrived, Ambers had no pulse and had injuries on her arms and neck, CBS Minnesota reports.
Fox 9 reports the family had previously noticed bruising on Ambers’ body. She would deny claims that her boyfriend, Toby Nicholas Clarke, 37, had abused her. Despite this, Clarke has prior charges related to domestic abuse and has an order of protection filed against him.
The Hennepin County Medical examiner later determined that she died as a result of being strangled.
Upon being interviewed by police, Clarke claimed that he and Ambers were having rough sex and had choked her.
Ambers’ son, Deanthony Ambers, told Fox 9: “I want everyone to know that that’s a lie. That man took my mom’s life for no reason and it was not an accident. He purposely did that to her.”
Her son believes she tried call the police for help, but Clarke took her phone.
Clarke has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.
