A Milwaukee, Wisconsin, mother was charged after her 3-month-old infant was mauled by the family dog on Oct. 27.
According to reports, 27-year-old Angelina Lache was arrested after officers responded to a car accident involving her and her two children.
At the scene, Lache was frantically alerting officers to her injured infant. She told authorities that the boy was not injured in the accident, but was instead attacked by a dog.
The boy was taken to a local hospital for treatment after officers noticed “visible bite wounds all over the upper region of his body.” Investigators subsequently spoke to Lache’s 8-year-old son, who told them that he and his brother were left home alone when their pit bull attacked the baby.
The story was different according to the boy’s mother, who initially told officers that the incident took place at a friend’s house.
Lache ultimately admitted to leaving her children home alone when she went to the store “to get milk.” Upon returning home, she found her infant son laying on his back with a large gash on his chest. She put both children in the car and made her way to the hospital. It was on the way that the car accident occurred.
Lache was charged with misdemeanor child neglect, bodily harm child neglect, obstructing an officer, and misdemeanor intimidation of a victim. If convicted, she faces six years in prison and $10,000 in fines, reported Fox 6 Now.
