An English teacher in Oklahoma has been arrested for second-degree rape after she reportedly followed one of her 15-year-old students to a hotel room in Mississippi, where they had sex in June, reports Huffington Post.
Jennifer Caswell, 28, quit her job at Hollis Middle School in April as allegations began flying that she was in a relationship with a male student. At that point in time, though, these were only rumors and police say they didn’t have evidence to prosecute the woman. That all changed just two months later, when Caswell and the boy were reportedly caught having sex at a Best Western hotel after the former teacher had followed him there, where he was visiting his mother over the summer break.
It was then revealed that the student and his teacher had sex several times during the months of April and May and even had sexual relations in her school classroom before Caswell resigned, reports Daily Mail. They also had sex in her SUV and at her home, according to police.
Caswell, who went by her married name “Sexton” before finalizing her divorce this year, is in police custody and has been charged with three counts of second-degree rape, two counts of enticing a childvand one forcible sodomy count, reports News.com.au.
The student, whose name cannot be released because of his age, initially denied the teacher did anything wrong and referred to her as simply “a nice teacher.” As police questioned him, he reportedly opened up about their affair and admitted it had been going on for a few months.
