Michigan Driver Fatally Runs Over Teen, Doesn't Stop Until She Gets To Work (Video)

A Michigan woman allegedly fatally struck a 15-year-old boy with her car, but didn’t stop because she was in a hurry to get to work.

Jonathan Bracamontes, of Holland, was crossing the street on his way to Meijer when he was fatally hit Tuesday morning.

The driver, 64-year-old Ruth Borgman, said she knew she hit something but wasn’t sure what it was. She didn’t stop, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office.

After she reached her office and saw the damage to the front of her car, she called 911 around 6:20 a.m.

The West Ottawa High School sophomore was found lying on the median at the intersection of US-31 and Riley Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Borgman allegedly reported that something had run out in front of her car.

Bracamontes’ family says they don’t understand why Borgman didn’t stop.

“I don’t know why she didn’t stop. That’s what I’m wondering,” Jonathan’s older brother Christian Bracamontes, 17, told WOOD-TV. “Why didn’t she stop?”

“He was about as big as I am. As tall as I am, almost as big as I am. Like, how do you not realize you hit a person?” he asked.

Jonathan was reportedly on his way to Meijer Tuesday morning to buy chocolates and flowers for his girlfriend.

“He didn’t deserve what happened to him,” Christian Bracamontes said. “He’s a good kid.”

Borgman has not been ticketed. Possible charges are left up to the county prosecutor.
