Michael Moore: Disrupt Trump's Inauguration

Filmmaker Michael Moore has told Americans to "disrupt" President-elect Donald Trump's Jan. 20 inauguration, calling on "all people of good conscience" to protest at the ceremony.

"Disrupt the inauguration," wrote Moore on Twitter. "The Majority have spoken - by nearly 2.7 million votes & counting! Silence is not an option."

In his tweet, Moore included a link to DisruptJ20, an organization that seeks to demonstrate during Trump's presidential inauguration.

"Join us for a bold mobilization against the inauguration of Donald Trump," says the website, The Daily Caller reports. "We’re bringing widespread civil resistance to the streets of Washington, DC through protests, direct actions, and even parties and we want you there with us."

The majority that Moore mentioned in his tweet is a reference to Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton's popular vote win over Trump, which she won by a margin of more than 2 million votes.

DisruptJ20 tells citizens to "disrupt" the inauguration ceremony by organizing protests, walkouts, and other actions.

"We call on all people of good conscience to join in disrupting the ceremonies," says the website. "If Trump is to be inaugurated at all, let it happen behind closed doors, showing the true face of the security state Trump will preside over. It must be made clear to the whole world that the vast majority of people in the United States do not support his presidency or consent to his rule."

DisruptJ20 is reportedly planning to organize protests in Washington, D.C. on Inauguration Day, but also calls on people to demonstrate on "the streets wherever you are," Fox News reports.

"If you are living outside the US, you can take action at US embassies, borders, or other symbols of neocolonial power. Our allegiance is not to 'making America great again,' but to all of humanity and the planet. #DisruptJ20."

The organization advises those who are not in Washington, D.C., during the inauguration to do whatever they can to protest in their own way.

"There is also a call for a general strike to take place. Organize a walkout at your school now. Workers: call out sick and take the day off. No work, no school, no shopping, no housework," says DisruptJ20.
