Miami Teen Brothers Die In Murder-Suicide Over Fight About Clothes

A 14-year-old Miami boy fatally shot his 16-year-old brother and himself after an argument broke out over borrowing clothes.

Stanley Blanc, 16, wanted to wear clothing that belonged to his 14-year-old brother, Steven Odeus.

“It started off as a small petty argument over clothes that escalated into a fight,” said their 18-year-old brother Marc Blanc, who witnessed the shooting late Sunday night.

“Stanley wanted to wear Steven’s clothes, Steven didn’t want him to,” family friend Kedner Louis told CBS Miami.

The fight began in their apartment in New Haven Gardens. After family members separated the boys, the fight flared up again outside.

“Right before my eyes my brother just shot my other brother,” said Mark Blanc. He said he does not know where his brother got the gun.

Odeous then ran into the courtyard where he turned the gun on himself.

“I heard my second brother die because he shot himself,” Blanc said.

“In my mind, I think he didn’t really mean to,” he added. “That’s blood, nobody wants to kill their own brother. At the same time I got mixed feelings about a lot of stuff right now.”

Family and friends held a vigil for the boys Monday night.

“I feel like a part of me is missing … they were like little brothers to me,” said their friend Tyquane Williams. “I love Y’all, you will always be in my heart and I will never forget y’all.”

“I’ve been crying a lot,” said Blanc. “I’ve been doing a lot of thinking and I want people to know: love your kids, love one another, don’t sweat the small stuff.”
