The Bugatti Veyron is the ultimate supercar -- it packs a 16 cylinder engine under the hood, goes from 0-60 in a blinding 2.6 seconds, and has a top speed of 267 mph. All of this for a staggering $2.6 million. No other car can approach it. Well, one company is going to try.
4WheelsNews.com quotes a report from AutoCar that says McLaren is working on a car to take on the Veyron.
Dubbed "Mega Mac," the car will hit the streets in 2014, and will be "bigger, more functional and angrier" than McLaren's current supercar, the MP4-12C.
What is really interesting is that the new Mega Mac will feature new front and rear spoilers that will be deployed in certain conditions, at high speeds, as well as a new rear airbrake, just like the one seen on the MP4-12C.
Mega Mac will have an 800 horsepower, 5.0-liter V8 engine that will go from 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds -- a bit slower than the Veyron. But it will make it to 200 in 20 seconds -- two seconds faster than the Veyron.
The Mega Mac will also be more affordable than the Veyron, but of course that is all relative. McLaren said it will make 500 Mega Macs and price them between $567,000 and $650,000.
