A dentist from Tulsa, Oklahoma, was arrested and charged with murdering the infant son of his mistress.
Dr. Bert Franklin, 35, was arrested July 20 on a first-degree murder charge in the death of 19-month-old Lincoln Van Henry Lewis.
According to the arrest affidavit, Franklin is married with four young children, reports News OK. He had allegedly been having a yearlong affair with Lincoln's mother, Roxanne Lewis-Randall, of Oklahoma City.
On the morning of July 18, Lewis-Randall reportedly found Lincoln unresponsive in bed. The mother later told police she remembered hearing a loud thud the previous night, emanating from the bedroom where Lincoln and Franklin were at the time.
She rushed Lincoln to a local hospital, where he was diagnosed with skull fractures. He was later transferred to a larger hospital, but died of his injuries the same day.
Lewis-Randall said Franklin hated the boy’s father and had threatened to kill him, reported KOKH. The dentist also allegedly threatened to cut off the father’s penis and “skin him in Bricktown” -- a reference to the historical commercial district in downtown Oklahoma City.
Franklin, who practices dentistry at Signature Smiles in Tulsa, is a graduate of Oral Roberts University and University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry.
He was also valedictorian at Victory Christian School, which is “one of the largest Christian Private Schools in Tulsa and Oklahoma,” according to the school’s website, which goes on to state:
The purpose of Victory Christian School is to provide a quality Christian education without compromising the Word of God, in an environment where students will experience maximum success. Students will learn to live by the Word of God, be led by the Spirit of God, and reach out to others with the Love of God.
