A Texas father, who is also a former Marine, came up with a plan to incarcerate a family friend who had reportedly been molesting his daughter.
On June 24, 2014, Brandon Moore of Lorena, Texas, was admitted to the hospital. Leone Moore, Brandon's wife, accompanied him to the emergency room, and Sean Foster, a family friend, offered to watch the couple's three children. Leone said no, but Foster reportedly went to their home anyway.
"This piece of crap found out I was in the emergency room, drove over to my house while my daughter was sleeping and molested her in her bed," Brandon told The Daily Beast.
The Moores' daughter, Madalyn, was 14 years old when the incident took place.
Two days later, Foster dropped Madalyn off at the doctor for an annual physical. He was reportedly upset he was not allowed in the examination room with the girl. However, he didn't realize that Leone was at the doctor's office too, and the nurse told her about Foster's "tantrum."
About 15 minutes later, Madalyn revealed to Leone that Foster had not only molested her when her father was in the hospital, but the sexual abuse had started when she was 9 years old.
"I didn’t want to tell anyone because I was afraid they wouldn’t believe me," Madalyn said.
Authorities told the family the police investigation could take several months, so Brandon came up with his own plan. He turned on the shower, locked the front door, and messaged Foster from Madalyn’s phone to say that "she" was in the shower and that she would be ready for him to take her to work in 15 minutes.
After receiving the text, Foster reportedly called Brandon to make sure he wasn't at home. Then when he arrived at the home, he found that the front door was locked, so he went in through the back door.
"If he wasn’t a creep or a jerk, he would’ve pulled into the driveway and honked or knocked on the door," Brandon said.
Foster heard the shower, so he went into the bathroom and pulled back the curtain to talk to the teenager. Brandon went into the bathroom and captured several minutes of verbal and physical fighting on his phone until the police arrived.
The audio was played during Foster’s April trial, and he was given a 55-year consecutive prison sentence and fined $40,000, according to the Waco Tribune Herald.
"I hope there is a special place in hell for people like you, Sean," Brandon said during the trial.
"We both know what you did," Madalyn, now 16, told Foster. "Now you are going away for a long time."
Lorena Police Chief Tom Dickson, who admittedly would not advise others to attempt such a tactic, said "we had to do something right then" after hearing the recording.
