Man's Selfie Gets Him Arrested As He Flees From Assault Charges

Donald Harrison, 22, was facing criminal charges after allegedly assaulting a woman and refusing to let her leave her apartment following an argument on Jan. 24.

As police were searching for Harrison, they had a stroke of luck after he posted a selfie on Facebook - telling everyone exactly where he was going.

Harrison had already posted that he was leaving Ambridge, Pennsylvania, but on Feb. 10, he posted a selfie with the message “OMW TO SPARTANSBURG SC SAY A PRAYER FOR ME.”

Ambridge police Chief James Mann said the woman he assaulted informed police about the selfie, and he guessed it was taken from a Greyhound bus.

As it turned out, a bus bound for Spartansburg, North Carolina, Harrison’s home town, had left from a terminal in Pittsburgh, Pennsyvlania, just 15 minutes earlier.

Mann contacted the police in Youngstown, Ohio, where the bus would stop next, and arranged for authorities there to arrest him.

"I guess when the bus pulled in they instructed the driver to keep the door shut until police got there, and the rest is history," Mann told the Associated Press.

The woman who was assaulted suffered several fractured vertebrae during her 12-hour ordeal, and Harrison will face aggravated assault charges in addition to simple assault, unlawful restraint and reckless endangerment charges, among others.

“We like it when dumb criminals assist us in our investigation," Mann told the Beaver County Times.
