Benjamin Gaston and Johnny Jackson have been charged with kidnapping, sex trafficking, criminal sex acts, rape and sex abuse after they allegedly took a 28-year-old female prostitute hostage for two days in November.
Gaston is also charged with assault. The two men took the woman and trapped her in two different apartments in Manhattan. While she was stuck, the escort was forced to have sex with multiple men. She was so desperate to escape that she jumped from the sixth floor of an apartment. The woman broke her legs and her back as a result of her leap.
Gaston and Jackson have pleaded not guilty to charges. Gaston is being held without bail. Bail for Jackson was set at $500,000. They could face life in prison if convicted.
The two men allegedly first trapped the woman in an apartment on West 92nd Street. When she told her captors that she wanted to leave, one of them hit her in the head and stuffed a pillow into her face. “You’re not leaving the apartment. You’re working for me and making my money,” Gaston said, reports The Daily News. After the exchange, Gaston, 36, took away the woman’s phone, driver’s license and cash.
The following day the men took her to her apartment on West 149th Street. There were six or seven men waiting for her when she arrived. Gaston then told her, "You'll do what I say here." She wanted to escape so badly that she attempted to “use her jacket as a rope but fell to the ground.”
Jackson, 53, has tried to pin the blame for the caper on Gaston.
“A guy I know as Mike asked me if he could use my spare room to run his girl out of and make some money. I told him he could use the room in my apartment and he agreed to give me part of the profit,” Jackson said. “He brought a girl over and they stayed in my apartment from Tuesday at about 3 a.m. until Wednesday evening.”
Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. said: “The facts of this crime are truly heinous - these defendants are accused of holding a woman hostage in order to essentially enslave and prostitute her.”
