A Texas man has been arrested after he allegedly traveled to Florida to have sex with a 9-year-old girl.
Mark Andrew Nichols, 64, was taken into custody on Oct. 7 after he arrived at a location given to him by police after he fell for a sting, reports KXAN.
Police began communicating with Nichols on Sept. 13 after he responded to a fake online advertisement posted by detectives from the Orlando Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
In the ad, a detective posed as the mother and father of a 9-year-old girl who wanted to meet "experienced parents to learn new things from about raising little ones," according to KXAN. Nichols responded to the ad with an email saying he wanted to help.
Police say that over several conversations, Nichols told the detective that he wanted to have sex with the 9-year-old girl and both parents.
Nichols texted the detective that he was fascinated with incest and discussed graphic details of sex acts he wanted to perform with the child, according to WFTV.
In text messages to the detective posing as the father, Nichols described how he would like to have sex with the child, the mother and possibly the father at the same time. Nichols also told the detective that he wanted to watch the father have sex with the child and asked if the child would want to watch him have sex with the mother.
"I want to be respectful and just provide you all with a fun, safe experience," Nichols wrote, according to WKMG.
Nichols also told police that he was planning a trip to Orlando to visit his family, and wanted to have sex with the child while he was in the city. Police gave Nichols a time and place to meet and he was arrested as soon as he showed up.
When police arrested Nichols, he was carrying bags of Sour Patch Kids and Skittles candies, as well as a bottle of lubricant, according to WFTV.
Nichols is being charged with attempted sexual battery of a child under 12 years old, attempted lewd or lascivious conduct, solicitation of a minor via computer, obscene communication, travel to meet a minor and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
Nichols' bail was set at $1,500, but a hold on his case prevents him from posting bail and leaving custody. He remains in jail in Florida, according to the Austin American-Statesman.
Orlando police tweeted a video of Nichols after his arrests with the caption, "Mark Nichols traveled from TX to meet & have sex with a 9-year-old girl. Instead, he was met by OPD. We'll never stop going after predators."
