Man Texted Family Of Woman He Murdered Blaming Them For Her Death

After strangling his girlfriend to death, a 20-year-old Washington man allegedly sent text messages to her family members blaming them for his actions.

"If you are getting this you are responsible for Allison's death,” Gabriel Galan Navarro allegedly texted to 20-year-old Allison Leedy’s family. “You turned her against me.”

In addition to blaming Leedy’s family for her murder, Navarro also texted the young woman’s father, taunting him about his daughter’s murder.

“She’s dead,” Navarro allegedly wrote. “I have the last laugh.”

According to court documents, Navarro was angry that Leedy planned to end their relationship and move to California to attend college. The documents say that Navarro was “determined to prevent Allison and her family from realizing her dreams.” Leedy and Navarro reportedly dated for three years, but the relationship was far from perfect. Prosecutor Adrienne McCoy said that Navarro psychologically abused Leedy and constantly manipulated her.

When Navarro called 911 after strangling Leedy, he reportedly told the operator that he was armed with a gun and had flooded his apartment with propane with the intent to blow it up. None of that was true, and police say they believe he lied because he wanted officers to shoot him.

“One of our concerns was that maybe a lot of this was an effort to get us to the point where we'd feel that to deal with the threat, we'd have to shoot him,” said a police spokesperson.

Navarro surrendered to police and is currently in custody awaiting charges.
