Man Saves Puppies Cemented Into Aquarium Tank

Matt Williamson was walking near a creek in Hinds County, Mississippi, when he spotted two puppies in a glass aquarium with the lid cemented shut by the water’s edge.

“As I got closer, I saw these eyes peering out at me and they looked like they needed help,” Williamson told WAPT. "That’s when I called authorities." He believes whoever put the puppies there left them to drown.

The puppies were taken in by the Mississippi Animal Rescue League (MARL). “We think they are a little feral [and] not used to human handling,” MARL director Debra Boswell told WAPT. "They were running a slight fever [on Nov. 18], about 103, or so.

“Our standard procedure is to put them in a quiet location, number one, because of their temperature, and number two, because of their stress level.”

If and when the puppies receive a clean bill of health, they will be put up for adoption. So far, MARL has helped adopt out more than 48,000 pets, according to their website,

It’s unclear if the police are seeking any suspects in the case.
