A man who allegedly fatally shot his six months pregnant girlfriend on Saturday night in Raleigh, North Carolina, has been arrested and charged with murder. Miraculously, the infant girl survived the shooting and is hospitalized at WakeMed.
Kimberly Dianne Richardson, 25, was reportedly shot just after 9:30 p.m. near Triangle Town, where the expectant mother was holding down two jobs -- at a Zales and Carolina Moon, reports ABC11. She died at a WakeMed hospital early Sunday morning.
In a disturbing 911 call that police released Sunday, Richardson can be heard saying, "Help, I've been shot ... I can't talk ... he shot me ... please hurry."
Shortly after the shooting, her boyfriend Daniel Joseph Steele, 25, was arrested at his home and charged with first-degree murder.
Richardson's friend, Paige Bragson, told WRAL that the victim was a faithful member of her church who loved music and was "really, really happy" about being pregnant.
A Give Forward account has been set up to help the family, including infant daughter Lacy Grey, after Richardson's death. So far, more than $2,600 has been raised.
Steele, who reportedly worked as a security guard at the same mall in which Richardson worked, is being held without bail. It isn't clear what motivated him to allegedly kill Richardson.
