Man Gets 2 Obituaries: 1 From Wife, 1 From Girlfriend

In Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, a deceased man's wife and girlfriend each ran an obituary for him in the same newspaper.

Leroy “Blast” Black, 55, died Aug. 2 from cancer of the lungs due to fiberglass exposure, one of his obituaries in the Press of Atlantic City states.

This obituary mentions that Black is survived by one son, multiple siblings, and long-time girlfriend Princess Hall. It also details his work as a fiberglass technician.

The second obituary for Black mentions some of the same information, but does not refer to him as Blast; it uses his middle name Bill. It also does not include Hall’s name; his wife’s is there instead.

“He is survived by his loving wife, Bearetta Harrison Black and his son, Jazz Black,” the second obituary reads.

The obituaries give the same details on Black’s scheduled funeral in Atlantic City, which means his wife and girlfriend may both be planning to attend.

A man at Greenidge Funeral Homes told PhillyVoice that the obituaries were done separately because “the wife wanted it one way, and the girlfriend wanted it another way.”

He said there should not be any problems because both women knew it was happening.
