A man reportedly died of a heart attack while watching a horror movie and his body mysteriously went missing soon after.
The strange incident occurred during a showing of "The Conjuring 2" at Sri Balasubramaniar Cinema in Tiruvannamalai, India, the Independent reports.
It began when the 65-year-old man, who was with another person at the theater, started complaining of chest pains and subsequently fainted. He had a heart attack during the film’s climax.
The man was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died. The hospital staff asked the man’s friend to take his body to the Tiruvannamalai Government Medical College Hospital for an autopsy, but both the friend and the body mysteriously disappeared, Times of India reported.
Police are investigating the incident by speaking with drivers and establishments throughout the town to determine the man’s identity and find the body.
The strange death quickly went viral, with many readers questioning whether or not it actually took place.
“This definitely didn't happen. Film was pretty decent, though,” one reader commented on the Daily Mail.
“So the 'body' didn't just disappear on its own-it disappeared along with a friend who was transporting the 'body' elsewhere? Uh, has the thought crossed the minds of the authorities that the victim wasn't really dead, suddenly felt better and he and his friend are off somewhere-maybe to catch some more movies?,” another wrote. “Did they declare them missing just because they didn't show up at the second hospital? In that case, maybe someone should check with other ashrams in the area-they could both be just fine!”
“Nameless man drops dead and his body has vanished?," another added. "How convenient! In order words, nothing happened."
"The Conjuring 2," a sequel to the successful movie set in the 1970’s, has already grossed more than $104 million worldwide since opening on June 10.
