A 31-year-old man was convicted Sept. 14 of raping the 13-year-old daughter of a woman he was dating in December 2011.
Christopher Wilson pleaded guilty in a Jackson, Mississippi, courtroom to one count of gratification of lust and was given a 15-year sentence. He will serve 10 years in jail, and five years will be suspended.
Hinds County Circuit Court Judge Winston Kidd also ruled that Wilson would be subject to three years of post-release supervision.
An investigation led by the Attorney General’s office revealed that Wilson was dating the 13-year-old’s mother and all three were living at the same residence.
Wilson’s girlfriend returned home from work Dec. 6, 2011, to find him locked in a closet. She saw him pulling up his pants as her daughter lay on the floor with her pants down.
"This office continues to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves, especially our children," Attorney General Jim Hood said in a statement. "We appreciate Judge Kidd for putting this sickening defendant behind bars in which he will have plenty of time to re-think the terrible choices he made."
