Marine Charged With Sexually Abusing Girlfriend's One-Year-Old Daughter

A U.S. Marine has been accused of sexually abusing his girlfriend’s one-year-old daughter and physically abusing her four-year-old son.

Alex Plunket, 22, appeared in a Las Vegas court on March 24 after being charged with two counts of child abuse, one count of sexual assault against a child and one count of lewdness with a child.

According to his attorney, Plunket maintains his innocence and says he did not commit any of the crimes of which he is accused.

Plunket, who is stationed at Camp Pendleton Marine Base in San Diego, visited his girlfriend of four months in Las Vegas from March 3 through March 6. He stayed at the Linq Hotel while in town and watched his girlfriend’s children there while she was at work on March 4.

According to a police report, both children left the hotel with cuts and bruises on their faces. Plunket reportedly told their mother that the baby fell off the bed while he was in the bathroom, causing cuts and bruises on her face. He also said her son threw a toy, which bounced back and hit him in the face.

Plunket’s girlfriend told police that she initially believed his explanation. But after the children were dropped at their father’s house, the father became concerned and called the police.

During an evaluation at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, the four-year-old boy told paramedics that Alex hurt him. Medical examinations revealed the baby had been sexually abused, and that both children were physically abused.
