Man Caught With 80 Pounds Of Marijuana Candy After Car Accident

Samuel Bompane, 22, was caught with 80 pounds of marijuana candy in his car and $35,000 cash after a police pursuit and car crash in New Jersey on April 21, police say.

Bompane, of Brooklyn, New York, got into an argument in New Jersey but sped away, reports New York Daily News. He apparently eluded police by entering a construction zone — forcing responding officers to call off the chase.

Around 25 miles after police stopped following him, Bompane reportedly crashed his car into another vehicle, overturning it. The 42-year-old woman who was driving the other car broke her arm in the accident. A responding officer recognized Bompane’s description and arrested him.

In addition to 80 pounds of marijuana candy, police found 10 pounds of marijuana, hashish oil, prescription drugs and scales, money counters, plastic bags and devices for smoking. In total, the drugs were valued at more than $100,000, according to a Facebook post from New Jersey State Police.

Bompane was reportedly under the influence of drugs at the time of the crash and has been charged with aggravated assault with a vehicle and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, cocaine, mushrooms (Psilocybin), and hashish oil and possession of ecstasy, also known as MDMA.

Bompane was briefly hospitalized after the crash, but is currently in Monmouth County Jail. His bail was set at $725,000.
