A Cedar Hill, Texas, youth pastor was attacked by a group of people after they reportedly caught him molesting a child.
Willie Lee Bell, Jr., 29, was arrested after witnesses reportedly caught him molesting a child near a Dallas apartment Bell, a pastor at United Methodist Church, was accused of sexually assaulting three boys at an apartment -- two in February and one in March -- and currently faces charges for two of the sexual assaults.
The mother of the latest victim told Fox 4 News that Bell lured her 6-year-old son behind an apartment building while he was playing outside.
"It's painful," the mother said. "It's devastating. It's a nightmare."
The bystanders who beat Bell reportedly caught him with the unidentified mother's child.
"If it wasn't for them, he probably would have done more to my child," she said.
The mother said the bystanders caught Bell after spotting him with the child from inside an apartment on March 31.
"They just happened to look out their patio and saw that he was back there with a child and they were like, ‘What are you doing out there with a child?'” she said.
"And he was like ‘Oh nothing, he had to pee.' My child knows if he has to use the bathroom he’ll come up to the house and to use bathroom."
Dallas police arrested Bell and connected him to two other reported sexual assaults, in which two young boys said a man abused them behind their apartment complex. Both victims said Bell was wearing "church shoes."
Bell's Facebook page listed him as an Allstate Insurance agent, a pastor and "a hard-working, ambitious, black male," according to The Grio.
The church subsequently released a statement saying it was not aware of any criminal acts occurring at the church.
The principal of a local elementary school also told Fox 4 that Bell had been in the school for a meeting about a mentorship program. However, the program was never set up, and Bell was never left alone with a student.
