A Minnesota man has been arrested after allegedly stealing a car and then repeatedly calling 911 to brag about the crime, insisting that police would not catch him.
CBS reports that the 23-year-old man stole gas from a gas station on Friday night and then sped off in a vehicle he had stolen earlier that evening. Police spotted the stolen car around 2am and immediately began pursuing it. After a brief chase, the suspect eluded police and the car was found abandoned shortly thereafter.
The suspect then began calling 911 and telling dispatchers he would not be caught because he was “smarter than the police,” but he was ultimately found hiding in a shed later that night. The suspect reportedly resisted arrest and attacked two officers, but neither sustained serious injury.
The man is now in county jail, pending several charges which include gas theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, burglary, tampering with a motor vehicle, trespassing, and assaulting an officer.
