Man 'Angry with the World' Killed Kittens from Craigslist in His ‘Cat Room’ After Naming Them

An Alabama man who told police he was “angry with the word” said he named each kitten he got from Craigslist before he threw it to the floor to break its neck or stomp it to death.

Ronald Fraser Golden, 48, of 106 Bullington Road, Athens, was arrested today, Oct. 10, and charged with 22 counts of first-degree cruelty to a cat, according to Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson. Each count of the Class C felony carries a sentence of one to 10 years.

Police received a report on Sept. 24 about the carcasses of dead kittens found near Bullington Road. During the investigation, police received an anonymous tip that Golden was the person killing the kittens, Johnson said.

Lt. Chris Slaton and Sgt. Johnny Campbell interviewed Golden on Sept. 30. “Golden admitted to buying kittens off Craigslist, naming them and then killing them,” Johnson said.

“Golden told investigators he had a ‘cat room’ where he would throw the kittens against the floor to break their necks, stomp on them or ‘wring their necks.’”

Golden gave officers consent to search his property, where investigators found five dead kittens in a brushy area at the back of the property. Investigators also found two kittens, named Melvin and Mia according to Golden, and two dogs that were alive, reported Lt. Slaton said that Golden was caring for the dogs.

“When investigators searched the inside of the house, they found blood spatters on the walls and on the floor,” Johnson said.

Golden told investigators he was “angry at the world,” and he had been killing the kittens since July.

He was held for evaluation by a state mental health officer and Probate Court. Golden was released Thursday and immediately placed under arrest by Athens Police. He was then transferred to the Limestone County Jail.

Golden has been released on a $22,000 bond, reports WAFF News.
