Man Allegedly Tried To Rob Pastor Who Gave Him Ride

Police arrested a Missouri man after he allegedly tried to steal the truck of a pastor who gave him a ride.

Robert Michael, 31, has been charged with first-degree attempted robbery. He allegedly also tried to steal all of the clergyman's money and threatened him with a knife, The Kansas City Star reports.

Police were able to quickly find Michael and take him into custody thanks to his distinctive face and neck tattoos, which include firelike tribal symbols around his eyes, a rifle on his neck and symbols associated with Satanism on his chest.

The pastor told police he gave the man a ride after talking to him for 30 minutes at his Oak Grove church on Nov. 19. Michael reportedly told the pastor he had family problems and needed a ride.

The pastor said he felt the only way to get rid of the man was to agree, but he said he grew wary after Michael mentioned during the ride that he had served 10 years in a Texas prison.

After stopping his truck outside a home, Michael allegedly tried to take the keys from the ignition, demanded the pastor hand over his money, and held what is believed to be a knife, reports The Kansas City Star.

Carrying his keys and money with him but leaving his truck behind, the pastor sought help from a passing motorist and told her he was being robbed. They called 911 and after describing Michael's tattoos and clothes, the officers soon found and arrested the man.

KMBC reports Michael was also taken into custody for other outstanding warrants against him.

Michael's Facebook account claims his own vehicle had been stolen during the summer.

The man denies attempting to rob or threaten the pastor. His hearing is scheduled for Dec. 2 in Jackson County Circuit Court.
