Man Allegedly Shoots His Mother, Walks Her To Hospital

A New Yorker allegedly shot his mother in the back on Friday and walked her to the hospital before fleeing.

NYPD arrested the 32-year-old man, who was not identified, after his mother, 62-year-old Edith Ragan, told investigators her son was the shooter.

Ragin said she was inside her Murray Hill apartment when her son pulled out a .38-caliber revolver and shot her in the back.

After walking her to Bellevue Hospital, he allegedly ran away when approached by hospital security.

He returned to the scene and was talking to onlookers before he was arrested, according to the New York Post.

“He was standing between us for hours and asked what’s happening, what’s going on,” an unidentified resident told The Post. “He was very casual — that’s why nobody paid attention.”

“He was just standing there. I wasn’t surprised it was him because he was looking nervous like he was paranoid — looking around a lot,” said Carmelo Sanchez, 19, who was visiting family in the building.

Ragan was taken to surgery in stable condition.

A police source told The Post it is unclear whether the shooting was intentional or accidental. Charges are pending.
