Man Infects Toddler And Teenager With HIV

Officials sentenced a convicted sex offender from Texas to life in prison March 17 after he infected a teenage girl and a 2-year-old with HIV and herpes.

David Richard Wilson, 34, had sex with his ex-girlfriend’s 14-year-old daughter and a 2-year-old family member, KHOU reports.

The 2-year-old had to undergo reconstructive surgery on her genitals to repair damage from sexually transmitted diseases he gave her, reports the Daily Mail. The 14-year-old had a miscarriage after she got pregnant with Wilson’s child, the Houston Chronicle reports.

"What's going to happen to her when she meets the love of her life and has all of this baggage?" Harris County Assistant District Attorney Kate Warren asked jurors. "The defendant may be able to bury his head in the sand, but you cannot."

The girl told the court she and Wilson “would park on a cul-de-sac near her school and have sex in his car. The last time, they had unprotected sex,” the court affidavit reads, reports the Daily Mail.

Wilson was sentenced to prison in 2005 for four years after he engaged in sexual relations with another 14-year-old girl. It was revealed he’d also slept with various other young girls he met at bus stops, also infecting them with HIV.

Wilson showed signs of remorse as his victims testified about how HIV impacted their lives. He reportedly cried hearing their stories.

“You hurt me drastically,” one of his victims said. “I trusted you. I put my life in your hands.”

Although his lawyer advised against it, Wilson took the stand and apologized to the victim.

He also offered apology for infecting his ex-girlfriend’s 14-year-old, although he says he doesn’t regret the relationship.

“I have never denied about us having a relationship. I am not sorry we were together, no, I am sorry the HIV came into the situation,” Wilson said, also adding that he is in love with the teenage girl.

Others in court were also moved by the victim’s stories and praised their courage.

“They’re some of the most strong, resilient ladies I have met in my job down here,” said Warren. “They are amazing in their ability to overcome.”
