An 80-year-old man who reportedly asked a fellow customer at a restaurant to stop cursing got punched in the face for his troubles.
The incident happened on Sunday night at an Applebee’s in Port Orange, Fla.
According to The Smoking Gun, Harry Sander, 80, told police that Mikie Sawyer, 26, was “talking obscenities” and “and asked [Sawyer] politely if he could please stop using the 'f--- word' and 't------- and a---.'”
Sandler, who is German, told Sawyer at the restaurant bar, “In my Germany you don’t speak in such a manner.”
An unidentified witness told Port Orange police that Sawyer stated, “I don’t care where you are from whether it be Russia or Dutch, take your a-- to the other side of the bar.”
When Sandler refused to move, Sawyer allegedly punched him in the face and pushed him to the restaurant floor, noted WFTV.
According to the police report, Sander’s left eye was red and his left cheek was “discolored and bruised."
After the alleged assault, Sawyer left with two friends, but was followed into the parking lot by an Applebee’s manager.
Sawyer reportedly charged the manager in a “threatening manner” and threatened to "kick [his] ass too.”
Sawyer was later arrested at a traffic stop and charged with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, and battering a person over the age of 65, a felony.
Sawyer was taken to the Volusia County Branch Jail, and released after posting $2,500 bail.
